i am trying to download to a web page and also add it to some letterheads and
business cards i am making on line.

"download to a web page"- that sentence makes no sense.

creating an image in Pub 2000 doesn't make much sense either since it is a
publishing tool and not a graphics design tool.

Images for display on line should be jpg for "photo" type images and gif for
non "photo" type, use gif for text for best results with text.

There is some support for png but it's limited.
