My laptop mouse sometimes does not track well and/or jumps on the screen
after I let up on it. If I reboot the problem disappears. What can be done
to correct this problem?

Sounds like funky mouse drivers.

(I first read that as moose jumps. Now THAT could be a problem with a
laptop.)
