Author Publish to the Web with Publisher 2003

I recently upgraded from pub 2000 to pub 2003 and have read David Bartosik's
articles on 2002 and 2003 updates. I still can't figure out why my new 2003
publication will not upload properly to my server. My old 2000 version still
works fine. One thing I have noticed is that the web page numbers appear
strangely. Instead of being page1, page2, page3 etc....they are random
numbers that don't make sense like....page312, page387, page486,
page534...etc...why is this? Also, my server requires that the first page be
called index.html, not index.htm. Can I change this as a default? Any help
would be GREATLY appreciated!

I cover most issues on the FAQ page -
http://www.publishermvps.com/Default.aspx?tabid=30

You don't really say what the problem is regarding the uploading, would need
some details. But try the FAQ first.

The file naming convention changed but is irrelevant. You can however use
your own names, in both versions 2000 and 2003. I have this info on my site.
In 2003 go to tools, options, or use the rename button on the web toolbar.

Version 2003 uses only the .htm extension. There is no legitimate reason why
the server should recognize .html and not .htm. Servers are supposed to be
setup to accept index.html, index.htm, default.htm, default.html,
default.asp, default.aspx, as folder defaults, at a minimum (others can be
used). If your host actually only supports one that would scare me into
taking my business elsewhere.

When you select "publish to the web" you can type in an "L" behind the
".htm", in the file name box, thereby making it ".html". Well it worked for
me. And with 2003 my forms finally work now that I publish in http vs ftp.
Thank GOD.
