| Can I secure my pictures so that they cannot be downloaded by a user?

| No. It's not possible. When they display in a browser they are already in the users
machine.

| I was on a site somewhere the other day and I right clicked on a pic that I wanted to download and I got a message that the image was protected.

| And I can still copy the picture. All that does is slow some people down.
Those who *REALLY* want a picture know how to get around it in a heartbeat.

| Professional image sites will watermark images that on displayed on their
site if they are images for sale. Since the browser has to download the pics
to display them on the page the image files are in the browsers cache
directory accessible to the user. There are scripts out there that disable
the right-click menu that allows you to save a picture (which is faster then
going to the cache) but these scripts are useless if the user turns off
script in their browser settings.
Then there is VML and the IE browser. If you use Publisher version 2003 it
writes VML code that in the IE browser does not even provide the menu
option, it's not disabled its not there period. Take a look at

| David,
Are you strictly a Publisher MVP? Or do you support other apps such as FrontPage?

| You can learn about me at

While awarded in Publisher I can help MS customers in any way I am able and
willing. I have a few years experience with FP but there are plenty of FP
MVP's and the FP forum that could better serve you.
