| I am aghast at the troubles I have had with Publisher and loading to the web. I used to use Publisher 98 w/o trouble. That wizard was wonderful. Don't know why they don't still have it. And their directions to load from within Publisher always freeze
the program on me. (No, no viruses or anything)
I finally had an expert look at the files I created, and we think we found the flaw. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Publisher doesn't seem to create an index.html file for the first page, which is required for FTP transfers.
And it seems impossible to rename.
Can anyone help? I have the correct FTP upload address (checked, and was able to upload a file w/Adobe Go Live and FTP program), I have the correct username and password. And I have tried with Saving As a Web Page, Saving As A Web Archive, and Exporting
As A Web Page. None create that index file.
If someone would detail their entire successful upload procedure, I would appreciate it because somewhere something's missing.

| If you are using version 2002 it does not default to index. Versions 2002
and 2003 name the home page according to what you enter for a file name when
uploading. Version 2003 defaults to index.
I recommend you go thru the upload tutorial at www.davidbartosik.com/ppt.hm
and also look over refer to

| I have gone through the same problems. Took a long time to figure it out. When Publisher 2003 saves your publication, it does so through the "publish to web" button. You should save it to a folder called "index_file". The result will show a folder called "index_file" as well as a file called "index" with an IE icon attached. On uploading through your ftp program, you must not just download the files in the Index_file folder - instead upload the entire "index_file" folder plus the file "index". If you upload just the files in the "index_file" folder, it won't work. Even if you also upoad the "index" file. You must include the "index_file" folder. Don't ask me why. But it works. | |

| You need to read
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/...icle.asp?ID=324
I recommend using Pub for uploading, not a 3rd party ftp.

| If anyone can make things difficult, it's Microsoft. Especially when they try to explain procedures. I use an outside ftp server - and it's free! Called "ftpCommander". Easy to understand and works like a charm. I guess using Pub for uploading works well - once you understand how to use it properly. And that's the rub. |
