Microsoft Publisher - Grayed out Text Format

I have been publishing myrottweilerpups.com since about 2001 to the web.
Always looks nice. Now when I view it the previously correct layout is now
photos over text. When I go in to format the text to surround the graphic,
that box is now grayed out. Always was there before. Any ideas why?

First off I suggest you bookmark www.dictionary.com - a handy tool that can
help you fix your sig line to read - Amateur Web Designer.

One thing that can throw off page layout over time is the accumulation of
old site files, when using version 2000 I recommend deleting the existing
site html and image files off the server before publishing the new files
after a site change. If you've never done that and have been publishing for
a while I recommend doing a full delete of what's out there now and do a
clean publish.

Now after reviewing your site code I suspect it may be that you unknowingly
changed the target browser setting in Publisher in the web options. I
recommend it be set to 3.0, the lowest setting. The highest setting uses
CSS/CSS2 technology, which involves absolute positioning, which if not done
correctly could layer items. Set the target to 3.0 and try a fresh publish.

And one thing to note is that there are two types of publications, a print
publication and a web publication. Are you always and only using a web
publication, or do you create a print publication and then convert it to a
web publication? That can effect what options are available and effect the
output from the conversion. When designing a web site it should always be
designed in a web publication.

Thanks to your help, I have put a few marquees on my commercial site this
morning, and changed the text in hyperlinks to change color on hover, and to
remove those nasty underlines in hyperlinks. There is one in my
frescaaire.com page that still isn't gone, but that's probably because of
where it is.

I will check with the server and see how to delete these files. I
appreciate your help. Every quarter I pull up the last quarter file which is
a webpage and do the new page on the old and publish it that way. I did
change the browser type and I will do that first because it seems like it
might be easier.

I do not get notification when answers to my post come in. Wonder why?

The change from IE 3.0 to 4.0 was the culprit. The website is behaving
properly. Which makes me ask another question. There is sound on the
website, but I no longer can hear it on my computer. Any suggestions? For
instance I have no idea what it sounds like anymore.
