My favicon.ico image doesn't appear in IE 's address bar, or in favorites or in links. I have the favicon.ico file in my "images" directory, and direct the browser to it with this line:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
This line is located in the <head> section of the page. I've inserted this line in all of the important pages of the site, and none of them seem to work:

I just tried your link on my computer. It does show up in Firefox and
Opera....but not in IE....I have struggled with the same problem myself and
gave up....maybe someone else knows the answer?

The only way the favicon shows in the IE address bar is if the site has been added to
favorites, or a desktop shortcut has been made.
If you already have shortcuts to the web or have a link in favorites, delete them, clear
your history files and then make a new shortcut or favorite.

However, if /when you clear your temporary internet and history files, the icon will
disappear and the link or favorite will revert to the standard IE icon.
This is because IE stores the icon in the temporary internet files.

put the ico file in your root directory, not the images folder...make correction to your link as well.
