Page for mobile phone

| Hi,
Can anyone tell me what I need to create a web page that I can browse using
my mobile phone and download suitably sized pictures from the page to my
phone or anyone else's.
I've tried a normal html page but the phone reports a "Wrong file format"
error... I suspect it may not be as simple as using a different file
extension.
Anyway any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.
