Adding an oracle database to catalog - error?
|
|
| Needhelp 2007-06-28, 6:24 pm |
| Hello,
I have a database in oracle that I am trying to add to my "catalog". I
entered the server name, ID, password and I am getting an error message that
states "there was an issue retrieving the tables.... etc". I am using the
same id and password that I am using in toad and it works fine.
Any ideas? thanks

| What "catalog" are you referring to? When you switched to Oracle did you
update the database connection string information so that it was correct for
Oracle? See http://www.connectionstrings.com/ for listings

| Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I am referring to the "Add to Catalog" in the
"datasource catalog task pane" I checked out the link, but not sure how to
accumplish that. It looks like all I should have to do is enter ther server
name and my id and password......
Any ideas?

| Yes. When you click Add to Catalog and then Configure Database Connection in
the Server Name box put in the name of your database server (your web host
may need to tell you what it is) and then the Authentication method the
server uses (again, your web host would need to tell you this) and then
follow the rest of the wizard. You may just be choosing the wrong
authentication method
