Author Book recommendation please

I am a beginner at web design, however with many years of using other
programming languages. I have reached a stage where I need a good book
on HTML, CSS and JavaScript so that I can further develop my web site
skills. So far I have managed to scramble along by asking questions on
this forum and reading as much on line as I can find regarding
FrontPage.

Some of the items that I am looking for in a book are:
1. Syntax rules.
2. A description of the different sections of an HTML page.
3. A description within the book that tells me which language features
not to use because they have become superseded.
4. A listing of available properties and objects (if that is what they
are called).
5. A discussion of good structuring.
6. Plenty of code examples.

Javscript for Dummies?
CSS for Dummies?

I have FrontPage 2003 but I'm not looking for a Frontpage book. (I
have been using FrontPage The Missing Manual which has given me a good
start.)

When learning Visual Basic I bought one of the "Dummy" books. I wasn't
impressed.

Nice link. Thanks.

I'm sure I will use this link. However, I'm still looking for a book.
I find a hard copy easier to use away from my computer, even if it may
not be as complete. By the way, it's good to use trees, they are
renewable and biodegradable.

I've taken a better look at the link you posted. It is much better
than I originally thought and will probably teach me just about all I
need to know. Thank you very much.

Using windows explorer, browse to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\1033

There "should" be three files there named:
FPMAIN.CHM, HTMLREF.CHM AND JSCRIPTS.CHM

Double clicking them will open them.
They are great references.
