Need a counter that does not count a visit everytime I return to the index page

which takes you to the home page, with no links back.

| Ok, but them how do you avoid users that use the Browser Back function which increase your count, or
users the bypass your default document (preface page) directly to other pages in your site either
from a search engine, etc. where they are not counted?
