Live e-mail link in database results page
|
|
| Stephen Green 2004-07-29, 7:16 pm |
| I've created a page that list membership info including e-mail address. The
results page shows the e-mail address as text, but I'd like it to be an
active link so anyone can just click and send.
I thought that IE would automatically recognize an e-mail address, but...
Thanks for your help

| FYI, this will provide the spam bot with a nice list of email address even if they are not active
links.

| Thomas!
Since the page is a database results page, it is created each time it is
viewed. It does not exist on the server. How will the Spambots read the
page?

| Unless the page requires login access or a user has to enter search value to see the results, a
robot can use any links you have to the page to see the content of the page.

| double click the field that will have the email and check the box "show as
hyperlink".

| Andrew:
That doesn't work in the DRW - you end up with a link that looks like this:

| Sorry, wrong procedure - there's another way to do it.
Go to Insert Hyperlink, to the point as if you're going to insert a normal email
address, then click "Parameters" then at the top of that dialogue "Insert Field
Value" and choose the fieldname (from your database) that will have your email
addresses in it.

| Sorry, Andrew, that doesn't work either. Take a look at the procedure(s)
here (there are procedures for FP2000, FP2002 & FP2003):
