Hi,

I am using Frontpage 2003 on WinXP Pro and my IIS version is V5.1.
This morning while opening my local site I got the following message:

"The webserver at http://localhost does not appear to have Windows
SharePoint Services installed".

What happened and how can I install Windows SharePoint Services to get
running again? I had the same problem about a year ago but cannot
remember how it was solved.

I am pretty much at loss and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Josh

Did you actually read the replies I gave you in the STS newsgroup where you
originally posted this ?

Mike:
I don't see a post from Josh in the microsoft.public.sharepoint.teamservices
group (if that's the group you're referring to when you say STS). What was
your reply?

Hi Kathleen,

That would be because the same problem was posted 12 hours earlier *here* in
this newsgroup under the "Problem opening my local host" subject line.

You can see my replies there. (Mainly advising him to contact a FP newsgroup
and that WSS required Windows 2003 and IIS 6.0)

I assumed incorrectly that the previous post (that I had replied to 4 hours
earlier) was to the STS newsgroup (they often are). Sorry for the confusion.

Not a major problem <grin>.

But you see the problems caused by starting a new thread instead of carrying
on with the old one - people (i.e. me) get confused :)
