Guest book setup for a novice
|
|
|
| I have seen many similar posts about this topic in the forum but I cannot find the specific answer to my query, so please excuse my ignorance.
I have used the Guest book creating feature in FP, but do not understand how to display the results - where does the guestlog.htm file send the comments posted? They are not displayed anywhere on the webpage. I would like them to be displayed under the gu
est book entry form if possible. Please help!

| 1) The Guest book requires publishing the web using FP in http mode and the FP Server Extensions on the hosted site
- if that's what you have done, provide a URL to the published site / page
2) Make sure in your local copy you move the file guestlog.htm to the _private folder (which has write permissions)
- then in guestbook.htm right click the Form for Form Properties and make sure the path for Send To is pointing to the new location
at _private/guestlog.htm
- also check the include page properties (below the form) to see if the path there is the same
- re publish the site

| Thank you for your help.
However, I still don not understand how other users can view what they and others have written in the guest book - ie how do I display the comments that are sent to the guestlog.htm?
My URL is www.markkenjicondon.com
thank you

| I found the guestbook and left a short note. Is that note supposed to remain
there to be viewed by subsequent visitors?

| 1) remove all spaces from file names - illegal html and breaks your links
- rename guest book Eng.htm to say guest_book_Eng.htm
2) you have deleted the webbot include code (pointing to guestlog.htm) from the bottom of the original page template
Open the guestbook page, switch to Html/Code view and after the closing form tag (</form> ) paste the below code:
<p><em>After you submit your comments, you will need to reload this page with your browser in order to see your additions to the
log.</em></p>
<!--webbot bot="Include" tag="BODY" u-include="_private/guestlog.htm" --><hr>
Then publish your changes
