getting error when trying to create subweb on remote using http mode
|

| HI! I never actually used this mode before as I always used ftp.
The remote server is a Win server platform.
I am Using Fp 2003. I open the local site and see it my left pane. I the
click in the view menu "remote website" the remote website properties box
opens up. I select the first option. "frontage or share services" NOW if I
enter in the remote rootweb ( http://myweb.com) it ask for my username and
password and then opens up fine.BUT if I use (http://myweb.com/new_subweb)
it reports that the site new_subweb does not exist and if I wish to create
it. I click YES, then it gives me an ERROR box. "The server could not
complete your request"
I have tried this in different ways and still get the same error.
Am I going about this in the right way? I know that the server is a win
platform with all the bells an whistles. I even did a server extension check
using the my ISP's extension check option. and all ok.
I can ftp to it ok. I can publish to it but only to the root dir. I cannot
seems to create a subweb.
what am I doing wrong?

| Check w/ your host if they allow subwebs
- many don't

| I always open the root web, then double click to open any subwebs. The subweb must have been create
on the server with FP or the FP Extensions Admin pages, before you can open it using File Menu |
Open Site.

| HI! Thanks Thomas, I have sent an email to my other ISP asking if he
supports subwebs as someone post that not all ISP's support subwebs under
the root.
As for the other site that I am working on as a volunteer has other problems
as I am not able to connect via FP in http mode. It will not accept my
logon. when I enter in the u/p it just redisplays the login box.
The ISP for this site just bought the company and knows nothing about FP.
hmmm. ( this is going to fun ). He as connect to the site in the past using
Dreamweaver. I am going to post a question on DW newsgroup to find out if it
transfers as http mode or in ftp.
I have other related questions that I will repost concerning IIS and group
authoriting for FP so that I can narrow down the issue so that I can ask him
to look up what happening on the server. I hope you can take a look at the
new post.
