I copied (not published) an old web that I have to a new system.
localhost is running great
as are asps when i create them in the root folder
but, if i try to create them in any other folder, or move them... they fail... i can move them back and they work fine again....
confused? what is going on here
Thanks ! Larry

What's the exact error message from the failing asp pages?
Jim -
The error I get is
"Database Results Wizard Error
The operation failed. If this continues, please contact your server administrator."
Thanks

| Is this error appearing in FrontPage, then, and not when you try to
run the page using a browser?
Also, do the problem DRW pages perform INSERT, DELETE, or UPDATE
commands on the database? FP2003 doesn't deal with those very well. It
was more or less an accident that those commands worked in prior
releases.

| hmmm
Answer to your question:
The error actually happens when I try to create an asp page or move an existing one within within the web from the root folder.
The only place it will let me create and keep a working asp page is in the root folder of the specific web.
This "table" does not have any updates etc against it. The db does have a non working update that I was going to chase next. But wanted to get a simple query generated using the wizard working properly.
Question on your comment:
hmm on the update, delete, etc.... what is the work around for this?
| |
|
| So i went back and looked at the preview and played with the db wizard that creates a set interface pages (review, add, edit). These pages work fine when they are moved and don't seem to have any issues.
It seems that only those pages created using the "insert/database/results" have issues with being moved and must be created in the root folder of the web.
So strange, they view fine in frontpage and only have the error in IE.
