Front Page 2000 seems to lock up when publishing *.mov files. Do I need to
FTP the files then link on site? (If so, how)

Is there a recommended format for videos to stay small and stream? I am
trying to put client demos on the web.

Yes, if the file size is over 1 MB, if not then maybe your host is blocking
it.

Gemstone,

The best way to work with video is to to create a directory (if desired) and then import your video files.
File > Import > Select the files

Once the files have been imported you can then just create a link to each video file.

The biggest issue you will have is the format and size. Since you are using .mov, this will require the end user to have Quicktime instaled to view the video. The other issue will be the file size, will it be reasonable for users to download.

Since you are creating demos, you may want to consider several versions of sizes and formats. For example you could offer a High Res and Low Res of Quicktime (.mov) and a High Res and Low Res of Windows (.wmv)

If you prefer to look into true streaming, there are several 3rd party companies that offer very reliable streaming services. I use playstream, if I need true video and audio streaming capabilities. There location is http://playstream.com/
