This is an upgrade of pictures; the new ones will have the same file names
as the old ones.

See "replacing pictures on website"

I want to replace these images with new and better ones. Can I import the
new ones, replacing the old ones in one operation?

And do I need to delete the old images on the website, or can I just upload
"replacing files"?

Hi Karen,

The new one will just overlay the old ones then without any changes.

Just import the images into your current open FP web, overwriting the
current images, then do a Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks command, then
publish to the remote server.

Sometime, the new images will not appear, in which case you will have to
delete the current image while in FP, then Tools | Recalculate Hyperlink,
then import the new image into the same location.

I just imported some new images into my web and replaced the original ones.
I was reasonably successful; however, all the thumbnails had to be
individually redone, and 2 out of 9 images were distorted on the page and
had to be reinserted. Not a quick fix! I'm not ready to upload yet..

If the dimensions of the image are not exactly the same as the old ones, you
will have to reinsert the image on the page. Thumbnails, of course, would
have to be redone because they are thumbnails of the old images.

Ah, additional information. Nothing was said in the prior posts about thumbnails <smile>
