Line Spacing between bulleted items
|
|
| wwcp@infinet.com 2004-02-25, 1:29 pm |
| I've been having a problem for quite awhile where the line spacing between
"items" I have bulleted (multiple paragraph "items" as well - where the line
spacing between the paragraphs are fine.) What shows up in FrontPage isn't
what shows up on IE or Netscape - and, there doesn't seem to be a direct
correlation between how many lines I must add to FP to get them to look
right on the browsers.... (???)
Also, I've noticed that with Netscape that the "bullets" are isolated on a
line before my "items" - but, they are at the beginning of the "item" with
IE (??)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

| straight-up bulleted lists <ul> are different from what you get when using a
theme.
are you using a theme and can you provide a link to one of these offending
pages?

| Theme...? hmmm... I'm not sure... or, how to tell if I did use one when I
first opened up this site.. (a couple years ago - at least). However,
here's the link to my guitar club site: http://www.ofgc.net --- In fact,
there is an offending line spacing problem right now in the News You Can Use
section on the front page.. (between the 4th and 5th bullet on the right
hand side... ) I forgot and only left one line space between that bullet
and the next item...
I am using tables to keep the lines from being too wide...
Thanks in advance for any assistance,
Palmer

| When you use a theme in FP2000/2002, FP creates a 2 column table and puts the bullet image in one cell and the text in another cell
for lists
You are better off not using the list formatting, and just creating your own table w/ smaller spacing

| Thanks so much for responding.. Yes, I did see when I Viewed my Source that
I had ued hte "waves 10" Theme when I first set up the site. I was confused
when I was setting this site up in the first place as to all what came along
with selecting a Theme (still am..) Hence, my follow up question:
You said that FP creates a 2 column table and puts the bullet image in one
cell and the text in another cell for lists. Is that when I press the
Bullets button? Because my News You Can Use section is a 2 column table
that I built with Insert Tables command.
Or, are you suggesting that I create another small 2 column table inside
that table for each of my "bulleted items" instead of using the Bullets
command?
(Boy - I wish you guys could hang out in my little home office with me for a
couple days - I'VE GOT A MILLION QUESTIONS ABOUT FP that have been driving
me nuts for years.... lol)
Thanks,
Palmer

| What you see in Design mode (your 2 column table), gets converted by FP on file save to another 2 column table for each list nested
inside of each of your columns (essentially 4 columns total when done)
- so yes, you can just create a 4 column table (column 1 & 3 being for bullet images selected from your theme folder) and better
control the spacing

| Boy, this is pretty quick turn around.. I didn't expect a Newsgroup to be
this responsive...
I'll tzy both a 4 column master table.... and, trying to insert another 2
column table for each bullet in a 2 column master to see if I get better
results Thanks, again.
Now - where do I find the bullet symbols - in that(I'm responsible for
inserting them where they belong... (You can tell I don't know much about
computers, huh (lol)

Insert/Pictures/ClipArt/WebBullets.. duh... lol)
Thanks so much again for all your help.

| Thanks, folks. Making my own bullets by Inserting those 2 column tables
within my master table worked very well. Plus, it allowed me to put in some
"lame" icon for a bullet... lol (Check 'em out... http://www.ofgc.net)
Thanks again,
Palmer
