Can anyone give me some hints on what to research in order to achieve the
effect of dynamic image scaling to screen size, especially useful for wide
screen monitors.

I'd be willing to bet my favorite hat that if you searched the forum/internet
you would find the answer since it's asked here almost daily. ;)

It's done with the onResize event of the Stage. There are a few good resources
to learn that. Here are two:
