Why won't my FLV play in Safari and Firefox?

To give you an idea of my situation here is exactly what I did.
I exported an FLV file from After Effect with the alpha channel so my chroma keyed inmage would have a transperant background.
I embedded the file into my website it's about 3megs. It plays fine on most coputers running internet explorer. But when i tested it in Safari and firefox it skips and there is a white box around the video..
Does anybody know why this is happening and if there is a code that I need to incorporate to make it play on safari??
