Hi All! I was just reading the Flash Best Practices document. In regards to the
section where using Scenes is discouraged. I was wondering how everyone who
does not use them makes the transition from one scene to a completely different
scene without using different 'scenes'? Do you for instance move the timeline
to the next empty frame following what stage objects have already appeared and
then empty the stage and add new ones and continue on? As you can tell I'm new
to this but I'm jumping in with both feet to create a short 'animated header'
for a website I have. Regards, Easum

Those who don't use them have different reasons - most don't because they are not developing flash
content in a way that even has "scenes" that would be found in say, a cartoon. Flash has a million
other applications aside from cartoon style animations. Those who avoid scenes do so because most of
their content is dynamic and requires only 1 frame on the main timeline (if that) and everything in
Movie Clips - and these aren't always cartoons.

Now, if somebody was making a Flash cartoon, and if that cartoon had several (or more than 1)
scenes, and if that cartoon had to be in 1 single FLA - then sure, scenes are perfect for this
application.

The Best Practices document only warns about using scenes when developing Flash content that
involves navigation - scenes are perfect for organizing long timelines and in most cases, developers
of Flash content do not have long timelines to warrant using scenes.

Thank you Chris...I was very confused on this topic as the 'cartoon' I'm
creating would work great with scene's and then I read not to use them. Your
logic on this issue is greatly appreciated and completely comprehendable by a
Flash newbie like myself. Thanks again, Easum
