| I want to take a 3d office that I created and use it as a site. I have created
camera movements that will coincide with a nav button. For example, when you
click on contact us nav button, the camera will navigate around the office to
the location designated for that specific request. I have four navigational
buttons ( home, services, clients and contact us) , which mean there are four
different camera movements. I initially thought that I could use flash for
this project. That way I would actually have one page with 3 swf files that
would be for services, clients and contact us. But I've been informed that you
can't use 3d with flash so if there is a better solution can someone please
advise. I also want to know if it is possible, in the event I can't use flash,
to use macromedia director for the project.

| whoever said that is not exactly correct. It is misleading to say you cant use 3D with flash because
you can - it has been done for years. but to clarify, you can use a 3D program to create and animate
your 3D objects/scenes, render as an image sequence and then import into flash. \
You site reminds me of a site 2 very talented developers and friends of mine made a couple years ago:
http://www.rootylicious.com/
I have never seen the source files but i am 99% sure the animation is a series of image sequences
where a camera was moved through a series of halls/rooms. Each sequence was imported into flash and
converted to Movie Clips and targeted with actionscript.
hope this helps.

| So are you saying all I have to do is (let's say for example) do a animation
for services. Then import that into flash and convert to a movie clip. and
repeat that for all for nav buttons. I would like to continue conversing with
you on this project until I'm confortable. Your friends site is exactly the
way I want my site. Mine will be more photo realistic but the concept is the
same. Thanks for all of the assistance. Look forward to your next post.

| I don't know what 3d app you're using but you should check out Swift3d. They
make plugins for Lighwave and Max that render your animations as vector for
flash.... pretty sweet stuff. The Rootylicious site could easily have been
rendered as vector since there is no shading or surfaces that would need
raster. This will keep your file sizes smaller while enabling you to have the
same cool effect. Another great site that takes advantage of Swift3d in flash
is tokyo plastic: www.tokyoplastic.com
good luck,

| I'm using maya. I tried using swift and got frustrated to the imagineable
point. There are no schools here in miami to teach you flash or swift. I took
a course for maya that was given at 1:30 to 4pm. Needless to say my job stuck
me hard. As a bargaining piece I forfeit my 40 hrs of my vacation time to take
the course. I will be posting along the way and all the help you guys can
provide will be more than greatful. As far as flash goes the little I do know
was from all the tutorials on the internet. If you know of a site that has
tutorials for swift pls forward it to me.
