Hi all,

I just finished working on a pretty interesting dental website. I created
quite (to me) interesting structure, nothing special but interesting. Anyway, I
just needed to share it with you all and perhaps get some opinions on what I
can edit and make better, what is good about it and what not.

Here it is www.ilkova.com
Please post our comments. I would really appreciate it. Your opinion is much
respected.

Thanks,

a30n

That's a unique concept! The thing I would do to improve it is to
make the background more interesting. Even just a highly faded
background image of a dental office or something. The big expanse of
plain gray background just doesn't look good to me. Kinda like a nice
painting.. it needs a nice wall to hang it on.
I like the unusual site design though.

Yeah, I was concerned with the plain grey background too. I will consider your idea.
Thanks tralfaz.

I agree with Newsgroup User,
the background is not interesting enough, and too small...
but it's a good idea.
try to make the tooth slighlty bigger so that the textbox inside it fits at
ease.

The following is not the best example, but if you go to
http://www.johnnyhollow.com/, you can see how they managed to blend the
background with the flash by using text. i suggest you reformat it similarily.

Maybe make the tooth bigger or other dental accessories...
The fact that the tooth holds all the data and the links to other pages makes
the whole site in this little space I would try to make it bigger. It should
have the whole attention of the reader and the grey background is at the
moment, the whole focus.

Good Luck...and good work tho'

I will consider the ideas shortly.

Hey, I hope I'm not sounding too harsh, but I can't really see the *
interesting part* of the site? It seems really straightforward to me, and
I'm not really convinced this layout you have chosen is the best. As said
above, you don't use your space effectively.
What about turning the tooth in the navigation element and getting the
content window out of the tooth? That way you can deliver much more content,
while keeping an alternative looking interface.

See through this criticism, you're on the right track. Keep up the good
work!

Thanks Tiemen Rapati,

About the straight-forwardness, it is because there is not much to say about
it, and you know, I considered the audience and decided to keep it simple. This
way it would be easier for the visitors to undersdand the content.

Moreover, the size is definately problematic. I am not going to go with the
content out of the tooth because this will ruin my major idea of the design,
but I was thinking of actually expanding the shape. This way, I will be able to
fit more info. And yes, I don't use all the space, but I don't have that much
of info to include anyway.

Thanks for the points,

I got one more question though. In http://www.ilkova.com/ I use the ScrollPane
Component to have my text with scroll bars, so I was just wandering if there
was a way for me to remove the border lines of the component and see only the
scroll bar. I tried to find a solution but haven't come across any yet. Could
any of you help me out.

Thanks, a30n

Im sorry but I would advise anyone not to use those UI components because i be
hearing that they are bugged so what about you givea try on building your own..
I mean for the creativity..the pide(lol)..

as for what you said about the clearing anything I would say that the one
thing i can think about it to strip your UI...you would go on your program
file...and navigate until you get to you conponent and ..so on..Hope you
understand what i mean...

and other thing i know that there is a function is flash about
IgnoreWhite..but im not really familiar with it though but i am sure that it is
for components though...

Hope that I helped...

Thanks Ronnie,

I know what you mean by saying that the components are bugged, although I
think they are just too sensitive, you know what I mean. You change something
minor, and it doesn't work the way it's supposed to. Anyway, creating your own
is definitely a great option, but I found that eventually, it becomes really
heavy, and by this I mean like extra 50 k to my swf. I know I can make it
smaller, but do not want to invest a lot of time on this right now.

Thanks,

a30n
