:confused;
Help!! I am trying to create symbols containing masked layers, can anyone
offer any advice on how to get these to work? The symbols animate/mask
effectively on the timeline but will not run when included in a movie and
tested!

I am using Flash MX (not MX2004)

Is it the ole "dissappearing text under a mask" problem? If so, use
static text or embed font outlines.
If not that, describe more or provide a link to your fla file.

I have created on the timeline a square with a counter in the corner ranging
from 01,02,03. I have created a mask layer to show the moving numbers in the
masked layer. Unfortunately, it will not play when i test the movie. The text
may be the problem, but it is already set as static text. "Embedding" - can
you explain further?

If it is static text then you don't need to embed font outlines
That's just for input text and dynamic text. You can't mask those text
types unless you embed the font outlines. Embed font outlines is a
selection on the properties window under "character"
Since you already have static text it must be something else. If you
want to post a link to your fla file I can check it.

If you don't have a website to upload the file to, you can email to me
if you like (max 4 megs I think)
The address below has to be entered with obvious changes. (this is
weak spam prevention)
