PLEASE HELP: Easy preloader question

Using Flash MX.

I have a small working preloader (scene 1) and a large main movie in scene
2.

When I upload the swf to my site the WHOLE SWF loads before it shows the
preloader, then it jumps into the main movie quickly.

How can I get the SMALL preloader to load/show first, so the users have
something to look at?

When I view the swf thru the html page it seems to work. Thanks.
