Author Expandable Menu

Alright, here's what I want to do:

I need to create a menu system like you would find on window's explorer
(start>run>explorer) that expands as you click on the button. Not only that,
but I want it to ease all of the other buttons below it out of the way.

I'm going to use it to have a list of titles for articles in the sidebar of a
website and when you click on one of the titles, it expands to give a short
description of the article. Then, when you click on the description, it'll
open up the article; or if you click on the title, it'll contract and the
description will disappear into it.

I'm sorry I couldn't find any examples to help me describe this, but if you
don't understand what I'm describing, I can make a quick little picture to
illustrate what I mean.

I don't expect anyone to do the work for me (unless you really want to), but
I'm trying to learn actionscript and it's not the easiest language to master.
If you could find a way to push me in the right direction, I would greatly
appreciate it.

I made a movie, close to what you wanted.. it's not perfect as you will see,
but it's good for begining.
take a look at the page below:

if you have any problems.. contact me, I'll try to modify it so it will be
exactly what you need, I hope I'll get it right

Wow. Thank you very much. I'm going to try to figure out how you did that and then I'll get back to you if I need help.

Thanks again!

Look at the Macromedia Tree component, it will do exactly what you are looking for.
