I know how to pull the text from a .txt file but know I wish to learn how to
pull it the database.

Use a server side scripting language (ASP, PHP etc...) to access the
database. Use the LoadVars or XML objects to call a server side script
that will perform the actual Database IO, and return the results to your
Flash.
