Author help needed for simple flash site

[L=the website]http://1337toons.home.comcast.net/index-4.html[/L]

I need help with my basic flash site. This is not only the first flash site
I've ever designed, but the first website in general. Before this I only used
and edited template sites.

My main question is: why does it keep turning white? I have only complete the
"home" page. But when you click on the "home" button the portion which I
dedicated to "contents" turns white. I don't understand why it is doing this,
and any help would be appreciated.

My second question is: does anyone have any ideas on how to "spice up" my
site? I don't want to make it too terribly complicated, but I'd like it to
look a little bit better and a little bit more "flashy" (literally, as in look
like it was done in the damn program!).

Thank you very much for all of your help.

Hi,

The reason of the white flash when pressing the button is probably caused by a
white keyframe left on the timeline.
its hard to see the fault in the swf file, i should actually see the fla file
to locate the error.

Spicing up tour site isn't something i can't help you with, neither can anyone
else i guess. that is a learning process you have to go trough. you can't
expect to be an expert on your first attempt and get the results people get who
are already working with flash for several years. buy some books and get to
work...that will do the trick i guess...

well I've updated the site again ([L=the
site]http://1337toons.home.comcast.net/index-4.html[/L])

It is still giving me the white screen, I added the "forums" section, so now I
have another question. How do I make the getURL action act as a _blank. ?
right now it is simply chaning the whole webpage.

As far as a blank keyframe goes, I don't have one in the animation at all... I
do, however, have the space where the "contents" loads as white, is that what's
doing it?

on (release) {
getURL("theurl.htm", "_blank");
}

i think the "load as white" is what doing it...otherwise send me the fla file (wim@cube.be) so i can see at first hand.

You may want to try putting a copy of the background that appears in all
of the external movies on the main stage of the index.fla....to the
right of the navigation.

Input on your site :

Add a few graphics, even creative borders to give the site some life. t looks
"flat" and your defeating the purpose of using flash.

A couple of little actions, motion tweens or whatever will go a long way. you
may also want to add to the front page a text area that grabs it's content from
an html.doc . It gives a nice little touch, simple to impliment and makes
changing content very easy by editing one document. I have a sample .fla if
you would like it. I can provide a DL link at your request. I am somewhat of
a "noob" at flash but, I can create so bad XXX graphics. I want to use flash to
bring those to life.

If you want I can make you a graphic(s) for your site for free, just link back
to me is all I ask.

index.swf loads the other swf files. index.swf has a white background.
Make it gray.

Well I fixed the problems, and thank you for your help. However in "spicing
up" the site I stumbled upon a new problem.

Download the source [L=here]http://1337toons.home.comcast.net/contact.fla[/L]
to understand what I'm talking about in the following question.

I'm assuming that you've downloaded the source and attempted to view it.
Here's my problem.

I have the "animators" button. And taht's what I was originally going to use.
However after I thought of the axe idea, I decided to have the two buttons on
the axe be the ACTUAL buttons. However I do not know how to have the movieclip
come up off of a "hoveR" besides having the original button. At any rate, I
have it set up how I want it, however the stop frame in the last frame of the
axe movieclip doesn't work. I just can't figure out why. But it needs to stop
on that frame, so that the two newlyintroduced buttons will work. Any input
would help me out. Thank you so much.
