| Hello --
You CAN do it either way you mention. BUT-- once you try swift3D you will
never go back. Makes it easy (by comparison) once you get the hang of it.
I would download a trial if you do not already have the software and start
learning swift.

| I'm a recent convert and a devout follower of Swift 3D v.3. It is good. Just
buy it. This should is one program that any designer should have, for animation
or drawing. It is that good. If you cough up the money now, they're promising
the upgrade to v.4 for free, as well as some other goodies. Go buy it.

| I got swift 3D v3. full now..
the same complicated world as the v2.
I guess all the 3d softwares are like this :S
I will try to find some tutorials...
guys do you think www.swift3d.com is made on swift 3d without using
macromedia Flash ?

| My version of Swift 3D v.3 came with a tutorial download, which has been
infinately useful. If you want it, then let me know (info@mereimagedesign.com)
but I _am_ an evil Mac user, so I suppose it will most likely work on Macs only.

| The best way (in my opinion) is to previsualise in 3D and then construct your
artwork entirely in Flash using the renders as reference.
I bought Swift3D last year and got a refund pretty soon after. The way it
breaks things down results in huge file sizes and I didn't like the limitations
with reflections/colours etc either.
Also, doing artwork in Illustrator and then bringing that to Flash makes file
sizes bloat as well, it's always best to draw what you need from start to
finish in Flash itself, using as few points as possible to describe your
shapes. I was drawing 4-5x faster in Flash within a few weeks even though I had
used illustrator for 8 years previously and considered myself pretty fast with
that.
An example of a 3D portfolio that I made using this method can be seen here
-[L= www.simonknowles.com]
http://www.simonknowles.com[/L] file size is only 22k - I've used transparency
to describe the highlights and shadows which helped with the file size &
realism but slows playback a bit.
Hope that helps,
S.

| Discreets Plasma gets my vote too.

|
| Yes. But I won't bet against Flash being used.
