I am working on a CDRom presentation which I am developing in Flash MX
Pro. I need to link (not embed!) 5 video files to the flash
presentation. I used the online Macromedia help and I figured out that
I need to convert the video files into FLV format before I link them
to my flash file. Then I need to create a Media Component in my flash
file and enter the URL of the FLV file. I noticed that in the
Macromedia HELP it is said 'Enter the URL'. In my case I won't have an
URL but a path on my CDRom. So I entered 'CDRom\video1.flv' where
CDRom is the name os my folder and video1.flv is one of my video
files. However when I export the presentation as SWF or EXE the video
does not play. All I see is the empty white window where my media
component is placed and the message 'Player' in the centre of it.

To summarise:
Is it possible to stream linked video files on a CDRom? Or is it just
an online option? If so, what is the way to link video files to a
flash presentation, without embedding them? Each of my 5 video files
is about 50 MB and I cannot afford to embed them in the Flash file.

Dear, I think u r giving the wrong URL to ur video files. Dont use
cdrom/video.flv. But use it like video.flv If video.flv file is in the root or
main directory.
Or if u have created a folder for video files e.g 'myvideos' and u wana link a
video file named as video.flv, and ur flash movie is located in the root
directory then link the file like this myvideos/video.flv

I hope u got the ans. Dont use any drive letters.
Can u tell me how one can convert avi, mov bla bla video formats into .flv
format.
