site check request / preloader problem

| Hi.
I'm having a problem with the preloader for my site's main SWF.
http://funeralpartyrock.com
Specifically, the problem is that it looks like the preloader won't
play until the movie has fully loaded.
A ~400K swf which contains the main navigation UI and other graphics
will begin to load when you first hit the site. The SWF contains two
scenes - a preloader and the subsequent main movie. It looks like
the preloader won't play until the movie has actually fully loaded.
And the effect isn't really acceptable for lo-band users. I'm pretty
sure that I built the preloader correctly. If you've seen the site,
do you have any idea what the problem might be off-hand?
Thank you very much,
The Band

Many many many posts about this. Check the archive with the keyword
"preloader"
The problem is that a lot of library stuff gets loaded ahead of anything
else. The biggest culprit is components. There are two possible fixes..
make sure big content is not exported in frame 1 so that the preloader can
get started first. If you cannot prevent that, you must have a separate
preloader swf file that loads first, starts running and then loads up the
big main content. You must make that kind of preloader in same stage
dimension, background color and frame rate as the main swf.

Thank you for the help and sorry for the cross posting. Won't do that
again.

| Tralfaz,
Thank you very much for taking the time to give such a comprehensive
response. It really helps. Think I'll go with the second of your two
solutions.
Much appreciated!
