Author Creating and Targeting Scenes as Pages

I want to create an entire site within FLASH, but am having trouble figuring
out how to add and connect different scenes to one another (acting as different
pages of a site). I have created the first scene of my FLASH movie with
functional rollovers on each link, and now want to be able to click on the
links and have the different scenes load to bring up content specific to that
scene, or page.

Here's a the url to the home page example: http://home.earthlink.net/~jdurack/

Basically, I just want to be able to click on a link (About E3, for example)
and have that specific scene load.

I know each scene needs to be created, but how do you create multiple scenes
in your FLASH file that act as different website pages and have the ability to
link them to one another? I have hit a wall with how to accomplish this. I'm
sure this is something quite simple to do, but could use any help.

Thanks!!
John

I wouldn't suggest you use scenes to navigate, but anyways you can use
on (press) {
gotoAndStop ("scene",1);
}
I would suggest you use frames to navigate, because shifting scenes clears the
history array if you're using one, you can build the whole site in one scene
and use frame labels to navigate.

Is it easy to explain the steps involved? I'm not exactly sure how to use frame labels to navigate in the process you described.

Thanks,
John

Select a frame, and then in the properties palette at the far left you can specify a label for the frame, you can use these name to navigate, instead of creating new scenes.

Sonahawk, welcome to the forums.

Ideally, if you have lots of content or your content is going to greatly
increase the SWF file size then its probably best to break up your content into
their own SWF's. After doing so you can use one MAIN SWF that you can hold
buttons, which can then be used to LOAD the other EXTERNAL SWF's into the MAIN
SWF. This way loading time is reduced, and the only content that gets loaded is
the content in the chosen SWF. This was a really basic description of loading
external swfs. Do a forum search for more information, there's plenty about.

Hope that helps,
Regards,
Viru.

Thanks for the input! I'll work this out.

Glad to have access to a great forum,
John
