Cross-posting: AOL ART is killing me
|
|
|
| Hi everyone,
I have a database driven Flash catalog. AOL converts the jpegs to art files,
which flash ignores, so the site is empty on AOL.
The only fix I have seen is to change the .jpg file extension to a nonsense
extension so AOL ignores the jpeg, but that makes editing on a PC a hassle,
and seems wildly unprofessional. Anyone know a serious server-side fix to
this?
TIA

| Oops, just set up ye olde outlook express, hadn't put in my nospam name,
d'oh. Please respond to this, not the other. Thanks.

Yeah, get rid of AOL (Awful On Line). You won't have that problem ;-)
I'll direct you to a free host... http://www.f2o.org I don't know if they
are taking apps for free accounts, but it doesn't hurts to ask.

| Hey Todd,
I agree, but the problem is that customers are using it, not me. Observing
AOL's limitations is the issue, not the solution, but thanks. :)

Then I would recommend acting as a "consultant" and advising them to. I have
done this with clients in the past and they have been very receptive. Also,
explain that to the client and maybe they will understand, if not, then I
dunno what to say. Good luck.
