Author Windows XP has encountered a problem

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I'm several weeks into a large project and
I've just run into a problem. Every time I drag a sound file from the Library
onto the stage I get one of those pop-ups telling me that Windows XP has
encountered a problem and needs to shut down Flash. At first, I was able to
keep Flash open long enough to get one scene done before it happened again. Now
I can't even get that much done--it crashes as soon as I select the sound file
in the Library.
Does anybody have any ideas? I fear that the file has been corrupted and I may
have to start over. With less than 2 weeks until my deadline, that isn't really
an option.
Thanks all,
Eddie

Sorry folks, the message box actually said, "Flash has encountered a problem
and needs to close". Since I first wrote, I have uninstalled Flash and
reinstalled it again in the hope that the problem was in the program files.
NOT. I still can't get the sound onto the stage. Oh, I should point out that I
did manage to get the sound into the first 17 scenes of the movie without any
trouble, so it isn't that I am doing something wrong.

I guess I'll have to start over from scratch.

I suggest making a copy of everything in another folder so that you can
experiment without fear. Then maybe delete that sound file from the library
and re-import it. Or, try importing a different sound file to see if it is
something to do with that particular sound file.
At least you still have some access so that you can open another flash
project at the same time and start moving all the elements over to a new
file.

On big projects, I usually make a new zip of my work at the end of each day
so I never have to go back more than a day's worth. Another good method is
to make separate smaller swf files for each major part of the project
instead of making one large one.
good luck,

The only workaround I had to that was a complete system reinstall. Turns
out, the drivers were installed in the wrong order (I have a Dell with
WinXPPro and pre-purcahsed the MX Suite). Probably not what you wanted to
hear, but I had the same problem last year and it turned out to be a
hardware issue. Good luck. If you find another solution, let us know.

Oops, again. I just opened Outlook express after a rebuild and hadn't come
up with a witty anonymous email address, so please don't reply to that last
one.
