How can I keep text from being squeezed or expanded whenever I change the dimensions of a text box?

you have to adjust the properties of the text box, check the pannel in the
bottom of your screen. make sure you have "multiline"

continuallly click on the text box until your "black Arrow" turns into the
blinking cursor (the type tool will all of a sudden become active. NOW YOU ARE
AT THE ROOT OF THE TEXT. Select the text you want to change and use the
"properties" window to change the pt. size, etc.

Continually clicking away from any object or symbol instance on the stage and
you'll return to the Scene Screen


also holding down the shift button while scaling constrains the proportions.

You might wanna read up on the resizing of textfields in the manual. Do NOT
resize using the transformtool; resize a texfield using the anchor which
appears at either the upper or lower right side of the textfield.
