Greetings,

I have seen several mentions of 700 x 500 as the common dimension for
presentations. Are these indeed acceptable/widely-used dimensions to use for a
standard web presentation? (I presume that it is because the
common-denominator is made up of visitors who have 800 x 600 resolution?)

I am beginning the design of my first Flash site, and would greatly appreciate
any comments on this before setting my stage size. Alternately, I would
welcome your suggestions as to how I should approach this matter (i.e. should I
use other dimensions, and what does one take into consideration before deciding
on the dimensions?).

Thank you,

When designing for web, first decision to make obviously is the one on
screenresolution. While there's a majority out there nowadays looking at
1024x768 screens; there's still a lot looking at 800x600 (last percentage I
saw about 30). Then take into account all kinds of browserwindow clutter.
The best article I ever read on this was the one on webmonkey;
