looks abit old school for me, mabey brigten it up abit, looks to grey and dull - just not my taste,

other than that it looks ok

I agree, looks old. In fact, it has the same idea as my site, and I designed
it a few years ago. Couple things, I would make it smaller, it looks big
and big look juvenile. Not the overall size, but the buttons and the text.
Also, I know you are just getting it started, but make some transition
between the buttons.

You can take a look at mine if you like, I have started to redo it a number
of time and keep getting side tracked. It may give you some ideas using this
type of theme.

I like the color and the depth you've created with the textures and shading.

The font on the buttons really doesn't fit the design concept you're after.
You need something "high tech" to better match your theme. However, the
layout and shapes you're using are a bit cliché. This "flavor" of visuals
is everywhere on the web. I'd like to see you strive for something more
original.
