What size should I make my stage?

| I'm sorry if this question seems "newbie-ish" but I've searched for articles on the topic and I'm not satisfied with what I've found. If I want to make a flash site, how large should I make the stage to hold it? Or should I design it to automatically scal
e and fit the browser? If so, what is the ideal ratio?

| alot of this depends on the client, what all they want to show, if they want
the flash to be just a part of the site or the whole thing. generally the
default works pretty good for me if you want everything in flash. (550x480)
basically your main concern is getting people to see the whole thing without
resizing their window. i'd set my resolution to 800x600 and open a browser
window and see what fits in the spot you want to work with

| Normally around 750 by 550 ,around the same size as your browserwindow but minus the menubar and statusbar for the height and minus the scrollbar on the left side. Usualy I make several .SWF's on one page and let them interact with eachother.
I always learned to use as little as possible (not too little) because people in general don't like big scrollable-page's.
Like they say in Belgium:
'added nie up joen sherm past ist nie goed. (If it doesn't fit your screen it isn't good)

| I personally like 800x600.
