Author help with particle effect

here's my problem.. i'm doing a flash animation for a web site.. the
way this goes is that there is a wall from an old building. its
covered in that plastery concrete stuff. its black underneath.. the
plaster needts to be "whipped" away so that some text can be sprayed
on there. i have the text part down. but the part where the plaster
is being whipped off may prove more difficult. i found a way to whipe
it away but its sorta the brute force way.. nto pretty.. i simply
erased a little more of the image in each frame so its a very heavy
animation right now. what i think would be really cool though is if i
could have some effect where particles of this plaster stuff are
falling down as i whipe it off. any ideas how this could be
accomplished?
thanks
john
