Text "writing itself" effect. need help

hello guys. i need to figure out a way to make some text appear to
write itself.. i've done this before but its a bit more tricky this
time.. this time the text is actually a spray paint look like graffiti
so i cant simply move a mask across the test from left to right. i
was thinking about making some kind of mask that actually moves across
each letter in such a way that it reveals the letters themselves so it
looks like theyre being sprayed on.. i'm a relative newbie at flash so
before i started in the wrong direction i was wondering if there is a
well establish way of doing this. thanks alot
