Resolution friendly page sizes?

| I dont understand. Nothing in my book or my dreamweaver for dummies talks
about this. Im designing my webpage on a 22inch lcd monitor. My monitor
resolution settings are set to 1122 x 864. When im done with my pages, they
look fine on my computer, but when I change my resolution, or get on a smaller
monitor I may have to scroll side to side to see the entire page. I know this
doesnt have to be like this due to me hardly ever running into this issue while
surfing the net. What am I doing wrong in dreamweaver 8? How do I set it to
"auto-size" per resolution or whatever it would be?

You should NEVER have a website that auto-sizes to the screen
resolution. It should re-size to the window's size. On a Mac people
rarely have the web browser filling the entire screen. On a Windows PC
of xourse people seem to insist on having the current application
taking up the whole screen.
