Author Create a fully editable template

Is it possible to create a fully editable template? I'm revamping my site,
which was originally created using copies of one .cfm file, then saving each
new page with a different name. This causes me to have to edit 70 something
pages if the general design changes.

What I want to do is to create one general template and then re-create all of
my site's pages off of that template. However, since I am using ColdFusion, I
don't want to mess with editable regions. I guess I could, but my real problem
comes when I have to add code to the top of the page (before the doctype and
html tags). How am I supposed to accomplish this? Any help would be much
appreciated. Thanks!!

I don't know if it will help...but here's my site:

That region is editable by default in a template. You will have no trouble
adding CF code there.

I can't believe I didn't try that first. Initially I had tried to set a region
outside of the HTML and that didn't work. Man!! Thanks for the slap to the
back of the head that I so desperately needed! :D

Good luck. Hope the slap wasn't too hard!
