I'm a novice web designer.
I have a client/ friend who would like to be able to edit portions of the web
site I've designed from their computer without using Dreamweaver.
How can I set this up?
I know almost nothing about using databases but the host I use does support
PHP & SQL.
Please help.!!

Irrational fear of database technology :(

A few choices:

1) If your friend is willing to use a very wee bit of HTML (paragraph and
heading tags), you can use Server Side Includes which they can update. I
have one client who does this.

2) Macromedia/Adobe Contribute. In conjunction with DW, you lock structural
code, and have editable portions open for Contribute to do updates in.

3) Use a Content Management System (CMS). Here's your database option
(although there are a few apps that don't use a db). You can check out
PHP/MySQL-based Open Source ones here: http://www.opensourcecms.com .
