Uploading web files to backup web hosting site
|
|
| user1900 2006-02-28, 6:22 pm |
| I currently have a local Dreamweaver site defined that is synchronized with a
remote site, call it CocoaCocoa.COM. I would ideally like to be able to tell
Dreamweaver to upload the very same local web files to a completely different
remote location, call it CocoaCocoa2.COM. (The latter would serve as a backup
website at another web host using the slightly different URL, and also allow me
to test how my usual web files perform at the second web hosting site.) Is it
possible to do this with Dreamweaver in some way that would not corrupt the
synchronization information that is compiled for the primary remote site?
Thank you.

| DW only allows for one remote site per site definition as the sync function
only works between local & remote.
There are two ways that you could achieve what you want. You could set up a
second site pointing the second host, but the same local folders, or you
could set up the second host as the testing server, rather than your own
machine. In the latter case you would have to manually move the files though

| Thank you Paul Whitman.
It occured to me also to simply define a 2nd DW local site using the same loca
files. But if I did this and synchronized to the backup site, would not the
synchronizing files for the first site that are stored locally in
....\_notes\dwsync.xml etc. be corrupted by synchronizing to the second remote
site, or does DW have some way of distinguishing the two sets of locally stored
synchronizing data?

| There is a very real possibility that having two sites defined will cause
problems with the dwssync.xlm files, so it is probably to explore the
testing server option.
