I am using dreamweaver for the first time and am sending so many hours to
figure simple things, I decided to use a pre desingned template I bought off
the web but I do not know how to insert the template into dreamweaver to edit.
How do you add templates to dreamweaver without creating them. Also how do
you edit otherwebsites with dreamweaver. I have a site I developed in note
pad and it is piblished but I would like to drop it in dreamwever to work
with it. HELP>>>>>>

You need a basic knowledge of HTML to shortcircuit this - otherwise you are
going to find it a very tough slog loaded with 'smoke and mirrors.'

Is the filename for this file using a DWT extension? Then copy it into the
Templates folder at the root level of your local site (if there is no such
Templates folder, then create one).

If the filename is not using a DWT extension then it's not really a DW
template. If your desire is to use DW templates, you would need to first
save this file using FILE | Save As Template..., and then you would need to
define the editable regions so that you can add unique content to its child
pages when you create them.

If you don't understand what I just said, then you need to use DW's F1 Help
to read about templates and how they work.

Just create a new site definition that points to the folder in which these
files reside locally as that new site's local root folder.

What Murray said.

Also, it would be easier for us to help you with this if you uploaded
the "template" somewhere so we could look at it. Does it come with a
css file? is one question that comes to mind.
