Author Layers Appear Incorrectly in Explorer

I created a site several years ago before I knew how to design sites. Here's
the address: http://personalpoetryinc.com/
I used layers ontop of text to create my navigation links. It has looked and
worked well for a few years. Now, in Firefox all looks and works well. In
Explorer I see boxes around the layers that were once invisible and there just
to act as the link. It used to be fine up until the other day. When I change
the boxes to invisible, the links do not work. Rather than redesigning the site
in tables, as I should have, how can I fix this?

Your images are not being found -

That's what is making those boxes - the missing images.

By the way, open the page in FF and bump the text size up two steps with
Ctrl-+. That's the price you pay for the seductive convenience of
layers....
