Hi All,

I have an issue which is apparent in both IE and FF. If you look at
http://www.thewebgorilla.com/, at the bottom of the page there is a white gap
between the right and left columns and the footer div.

Zoe kindly informed me that this was due to margin collapsing, the problem was
that the footer was bleeding through and that by adding a padding:top 1px; in
my footer div the problem should be solved. I have done this and unfortunately
it hasn't solved the problem (I still have the white gap).

I would greatly appreciate it if someone kindly inform me how I could possibly
solve this problem. One thing that I have noticed is that this problem is also
occuring in some of the pages when viewed in Firefox, although when it does
there is only a very small gap between the left or right cols, not both.
Infact in FF most of the pages show the L & R columns connecting well with the
footer.

Many Thanks

Stuart

Bump... I have asked this question a few days ago, is it really that tough a cookie to crack?

ok first off i really like your page. nice work. this may not help, but maybe
it will. i am using IE 7 and i see no gap on the left but one on the right.
perhaps that helps you look in a particular direction. Also, FYI - the drop
menu doesnt work. maybe you already know this, if not i wanted to let you know.

Cheers mate, glad you like it. I have noticed that the jump menu is not
working in IE6, nor IE7 I guess. Works fine in FF, so I am going to have to
look into this at somepoint.... I'll try changing it so that I have a 'go'
button and see if that works differently.

But first need to sort this issue..... Murray, would you know what's going
wrong here?

Thanks

Surely someone must be able to give me some advice on this... I have the guys I am doing this for breathing down my neck as they wanted this done and dusted last week.

Thanks

To be honest, I would just pick a simpler column method if I were you. Since
you're using a fixed width, create a graphic the full width of the
background that you can apply a repeat-y to. That way, your three columns
will always be visually even.

Beyond that, try temporarily putting off-colour borders on all your block
items so you can clearly see what is causing you grief. Once the problem is
solved, you can remove the borders.

Thanks Tim... just tried this and it hasn't worked either. I used fireworks
to create a small blue strip exactly the same color as I want the columns to
look. Then in the leftcol div I added:

background-image:url(../Images/leftcolbkg.gif);
background-repeat:repeat-y;

But still I get the gap (approximately 2 <br /> in size when I level the right
and left cols with each other). To be honest I am at my wits end with these IE
issues, I really do not know how to sort them out!! This web project has gone
from being highly enjoyable to highly frustrating.

Stu, in the future one thing that will help get a better response is to use
more meaningful subject titles. The subject "Help" really doesn't tell us much
and topic summaries are useless to the usenet folks, where most of the answers
come from.

Thanks Tim, all sorted now...

Bregent, cheers for letting me know that. I just assumed that Help would draw
peoples attention more.... in future I'll keep my subject title more
meaningful.

Cheers

Stuart
