Hi--

Second atttempt at help here - would appreciate if anyone can offer
anything.

Here is my scenario:

DW 8, with previous installs of 3 and MX 04, not removed before Studio
8 went in, however I have since removed ALL instances of macromedia
products and reinstalled only Studio 8 and the problem persists.

We use .asp pages and all of the header info, etc. and a link to our
style sheet is embedded in a header include for each page -- thus we
have no header, body, etc. tags visible in code view. We also use
something called Visual Source Safe as a security measure - this is at
the programmer's insistence (they all come from the an MCSC - or
whatever that microsoft certification is, background) even though DW
supplies a perfectly functional check in/out system.

So that's the scenario.

In both 3 and MX 04, I was able to see the images and CSS elements in
design view. I am on Windows platform at work and so is my assitant --
ehr situation is the same as mine.

One other person a PC is not having any problems -- he can see all his
images, etc. Our sites are identically mapped, all settings appear to
be the same, etc.

I have contacted MM for help -- I spent 45 minutes on the phone, the
guy had to e-mail me and he ended up telling me to link to the style
sheet in my header. I wrote back and told him this did not fix it and
that I had already told him that A) my coworker did not have to do
anything special to view the CSS-- nor do the mac users (which is
entirely infuriating because I am mac at home and PC at work, by no
choice of my own at work); and B) that I explained to him earlier that
I also had issues when I tried to link or import a CSS file - an error
emssage reading "A request to add a new link, import or style has
failed. If yo are working with an instance of a template, make sure
there is an editable region." Well I a NOT working with a tempalte.

So, the guy e-mailed me a second time and told me to click the live
data view button, lightening bolt next to design view...I have this
button on my Dreamweaver MX at home on the Mac...but not in my my brand
spanking new Studio 8 version.

I have the Screen Media view turned on...

I just don't know what else to do.

As it stands my work is hampered, my patience is crushed and my trust
and fiath in macromedia products is shattered.

I don't mind working strictly in code view...but I have a person I am
training to work in DW and for her sake, I want her to be able to see
the styles without having to constantly preview in a browser.

Please, I am begging for help here. I posted five days ago and was
wholly ignored. Please, if you have any suggestions, I would appreciate
it.
