| Hi, this is the first time I've used dreamweaver and already I've run into a
problem! I want to insert a table in my html document but a window pops up
saying it won't be visible unless View > Visual Aids > Invisible Elements is
checked and the element is on in preferences. I've checked and it is already
checked! I can insert the table tag in Code View and then it will show but
doing that all the time is annoying. I won't be using dreamweaver if I just
wanted to write pure code.

| I want to insert a table but it won't let me do it. As I've explained earlier,
when I try to insert a table in DW, it tells me that:
"the table won't be visible unless View > Visual Aids > Invisible Elements is
checked and the element is on in preferences."
Basically it won't let me insert tables and I don't know why...

| Also it inserts the following comment in the code afterwards:
<!-- MENU-LOCATION=NONE -->

| Please tell me the exact steps you are following when you get this message.
Start with creation of a new page.

| Ok, when I load DW (I am using DW 8), an error message appears straight away:
"While executing onLoad in _onOpen.htm, the following Javascript error(s)
occurred:
In file ""_onOpen"":
ReferenceError on onOpen is not defined"
I press OK
Then proceed to create a HTML document, the same error message appears again,
I once again press OK.
In Common, when i press the table icon to insert a table the following message
appears:
"the table won't be visible unless View > Visual Aids > Invisible Elements is
checked and the element is on in preferences."
Then it leaves this comment in the code view:
<!-- MENU-LOCATION=NONE -->
So I make sure the Invisible Elements is checked and it was already. However I
can make tables when I manually write out the code in Code View then updating
it.
Do you know why I can't insert tables?
Thanks

| Let's start at the beginning with the first error.
You can try this simple fix -
Quit DW.
Find this file-
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use Explorer > Tools >
Folder Options to unhide them)
and delete it.
Restart DW. Works better?

| I don't have the Macromedia Folder in the Application Data folder. Only the Microsoft folder is in there...

| You must be looking in the wrong folder then. If you have installed DW8,
then you must have this folder present -
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\
